Welcome to the Route 36 Virtual Public Information Center. This presentation has been prepared to inform the community and other stakeholders of the proposed improvements for the replacement of this bridge that has outlived its useful life. This federally-funded improvement project is being administered by the New Jersey Department of Transportation. We encourage you to participate in the design development of the improvements by sending the project team questions or concerns. Frequently Asked Questions
• Will access to the residential driveways and Sewer Authority property be maintained during construction?
Yes, access to all driveways within the construction zone will be maintained at all times, except for the short duration when actual driveway reconstructions are performed.
• What impacts can we expect during construction, in regards to noise and vibration, from say any pile driving activity?
A vibration monitoring program will be included in the specifications for the contractor to monitor vibrations on properties near the construction zone, which should primarily be limited to pile driving for construction of the substructure. Also, Contractor will have to adhere to local noise ordinance.
How long will the full detour be in effect?
Full bridge closure will be in place for a maximum of nine months (Roadway closed after Labor Day / New bridge open for traffic prior to Memorial Day).
Where will the construction equipment be stored during construction of the new bridge?
Staging areas will be located directly off the bridge on each approach roadway and potentially in the vacant area across from the Sewer Authority Plant.
Will homeowners be compensated for any proposed right-of-way easements?
Yes. Those affected owners will be contacted later in the design phase by the NJDOT Right-Of-Way Division.
